Individual Calzones

These Individual Calzones are delicious.  This was our weekend treat.  It might seem like a lot of work to do, but it really isn't.  I had made the  Pizza Dough  last week, I cut it in half, made a Deep Dish pizza and saved the other half to make these calzones.  The Homemade Pizza Sauce is made from scratch and really easy.

Most of the times we are in the kitchen trying to figure out what to cook.  The pizza dough can be made ahead of time and kept in the refrigerator for about a day or freeze it in a ziploc freezer bag for up to 3 months.  It's great to have it ready to go for those days when you want something quick.

With pizza dough you can make small individual pizzas, bread sticks, you can also just add some olive oil and some fresh garlic.  There are many things you can do with pizza dough.

Stuff the calzones with all of the toppings you enjoy eating on a pizza.  I like onions and peppers, pepperoni and a lot of sauce and extra mozzarella cheese.

Make sure to seal the edge of the calzones.  I used a little water on the edge to help the dough stick. Make a couple of small cuts on top of the dough so that the heat has a way to escape.

The crust is crispy with great flavor, it's cheesy and simply delicious.  Get in your kitchen, make the dough and the homemade pizza sauce, you will be happy you did.

Ingredient

Pizza Dough Recipe-Makes 8 calzones.
Homemade Pizza Sauce Recipe
shredded mozzarella cheese-topping
chopped onions-topping
chopped peppers-topping
pepperoni-topping
sausage meat cooked-topping

Preheat oven to 350 Degrees F.  Cut the pizza dough into half, then each half into 4 pieces.  With your hands and one piece at a time, stretch out the dough and shape into a circle. Add the homemade pizza sauce, cheese and all of your favorite toppings.  Fold over the dough and seal the edge.  Make a couple of cuts into the dough so that the heat air can escape.  Bake in the oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the dough has browned.  Enjoy with more homemade pizza sauce.
